Ingredients
Scale
- 1 packed cup fresh cilantro leaves and tender stems
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 to 2 tablespoons water, optional for thinning
Instructions
- Prepare your blender or food processor and gather all ingredients.
- Add the cilantro, sour cream, mayonnaise, lime juice, garlic cloves, olive oil, salt, and black pepper to the blender.
- Secure the lid tightly and blend until smooth and creamy.
- Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water only if you want a thinner sauce.
- Blend for another 20 to 30 seconds until the texture is silky and fully combined.
- Taste and adjust with a little more salt or lime juice if needed.
- Chill for at least 15 minutes for the best flavor, then serve with tacos, bowls, grilled meats, vegetables, or as a dip.
Notes
- Use fresh lime juice for the brightest flavor.
- Tender cilantro stems can be used because they blend well and add flavor.
- For a lighter version, replace sour cream with Greek yogurt.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- Freezing is not recommended because the creamy texture may separate.
