Description

Juicy turkey meatballs seasoned with garlic, oregano, and Parmesan, baked until tender, then tucked into toasted sub rolls with rich marinara and melted mozzarella for a warm, comforting sandwich everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 sub sandwich rolls
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, gently combine ground turkey, Italian breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper until just mixed.
  3. Shape the mixture into evenly sized meatballs.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and lightly sear the meatballs on all sides for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Transfer the meatballs to a baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  6. Warm the marinara sauce in a saucepan and coat the cooked meatballs in the sauce.
  7. Place the meatballs into the sub sandwich rolls and spoon extra marinara sauce over the top.
  8. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over each sub.
  9. Return the assembled subs to the oven and bake for 5 to 7 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Lightly toast the sub rolls before filling to prevent sogginess.
  • Do not overmix the turkey mixture to keep the meatballs tender.
  • Use a quality marinara sauce for deeper flavor.
  • Let the subs rest for a few minutes before serving so the cheese sets slightly.
