Description

Tirokafteri is a zesty Greek whipped feta dip with a kick of spice from fresh green peppers. Creamy, tangy, and slightly smoky, it’s perfect as a starter or appetizer served with warm pita bread.


Ingredients

For the Spicy Whipped Feta:

  • 250 g (8.8 oz) feta cheese, at room temperature
  • 100 g (3.5 oz) Greek yogurt
  • 1 hot green pepper (about 40 g / 1.4 oz)
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp red wine or apple cider vinegar

To Serve With:

  • Pita bread
  • Paprika, for garnish
  • Dried oregano, for garnish
  • Extra virgin olive oil, for drizzling


Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine the feta cheese, Greek yogurt, hot green pepper, and garlic clove. Blend until smooth.
  2. With the processor running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil and vinegar until the mixture is creamy and well combined.
  3. Transfer the whipped feta dip to a serving bowl.
  4. Sprinkle with paprika and dried oregano, and drizzle with extra virgin olive oil.
  5. Serve immediately with warm pita bread for dipping.

Notes

  • Remove seeds from the green pepper if you prefer a milder dip.
  • The dip can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
