Description

Stuffed Cabbage Bread is a savory and comforting dish featuring a flavorful beef and cabbage filling wrapped in soft pizza dough, baked to golden perfection and brushed with buttery salt for an irresistible treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 head green cabbage, shredded
  • 1 white onion, chopped
  • 2 shallots, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 pound premade pizza dough
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Heat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook filling: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and shallots, sauté until soft. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in shredded cabbage, water, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until cabbage is wilted and mixture is combined. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  3. Prepare dough: Roll out pizza dough into a rectangle. Spoon the beef and cabbage mixture along the center of the dough.
  4. Shape bread: Fold dough over the filling, sealing the edges and ends. Place seam-side down on prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake: Brush top with melted butter and sprinkle with kosher salt. Bake 25–30 minutes, until dough is golden brown.
  6. Serve: Let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of garlic powder or minced garlic to the filling.
  • Use a pizza stone for a crisper crust.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated in the oven for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Pair with a simple salad or dipping sauce like sour cream or mustard.
