Description

A refreshing and nostalgic glass of classic State Fair Lemonade made with fresh lemons, sweetened to perfection, and served ice-cold for the ultimate summer sip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 to 8 medium fresh lemons (about 1 cup of juice)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes, as needed
  • Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water. Heat over low until the sugar is fully dissolved to create a simple syrup.
  2. Juice the lemons until you have about 1 cup of juice. Strain out any seeds and pulp for a smoother drink.
  3. Pour the simple syrup into a large pitcher, then add the lemon juice.
  4. Stir in the remaining 4 cups of cold water. Mix well and taste. Adjust sweetness or tartness as desired.
  5. Add ice to the pitcher or individual glasses just before serving.
  6. Garnish with fresh lemon slices if desired, then serve chilled.

Notes

  • Roll lemons before juicing to release more juice.
  • Use Meyer lemons for a naturally sweeter flavor.
  • Add mint, berries, or cucumber for a twist.
  • Chill the lemonade for at least an hour before serving for the best taste.
