Description

Spinach & Feta Gozleme is a delightful Turkish flatbread that’s quick to make and bursting with fresh flavors. The combination of spinach and creamy feta wrapped in perfectly cooked dough makes this dish a favorite for many, whether as a snack or a main course.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 3/4 cup Water

Filling Ingredients

  • 2 cups Fresh Spinach, chopped
  • 1 cup Feta Cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water until a dough forms. Knead until smooth, then let it rest for about 30 minutes.
  2. Make the Filling: While the dough rests, wash and chop the fresh spinach. In a bowl, mix the spinach with crumbled feta and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
  3. Roll Out the Dough: Divide the rested dough into equal portions. On a floured surface, roll each portion into a thin circle, about 10 inches in diameter.
  4. Fill the Gozleme: Place a generous amount of the spinach and feta filling on one half of the rolled-out dough. Fold the other half over to create a pocket and press the edges to seal.
  5. Cook the Gozleme: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil. Cook each gozleme for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.

Notes

  • Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh spinach and high-quality feta will elevate the flavor of your gozleme.
  • Don’t Overfill: Stick to a moderate amount of filling to prevent the gozleme from bursting during cooking.
  • Rest Your Dough: Allowing the dough to rest makes it easier to roll out and results in a better texture.
  • Keep It Warm: If making multiple gozleme, keep them warm in a low oven until ready to serve.
  • Experiment with Seasoning: Adjust the seasoning in the filling to suit your taste preferences.
