Description

Sloppy Joe Stuffed Bread is a fun and hearty twist on the classic Sloppy Joe. Ground beef is cooked with spices, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce, then stuffed inside biscuit dough and baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ cup white onion, diced
  • ¼ cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ tablespoon garlic powder
  • ½ tablespoon onion powder
  • ½ tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tubes buttermilk biscuit dough
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté diced onion and bell pepper until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 6–8 minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, yellow mustard, chili powder, ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
  5. Roll out each tube of biscuit dough into a rectangle. Spoon Sloppy Joe mixture onto the center of each rectangle.
  6. Fold dough over filling, sealing edges to create a stuffed bread. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Brush tops with beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 18–22 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the Sloppy Joe filling is not too liquidy to prevent the dough from becoming soggy.
  • Customize with shredded cheese inside for extra flavor.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated.
  • Use store-bought biscuit dough for convenience, or homemade dough for a richer flavor.
