Crisp baguettes filled with juicy roast chicken, buttery sage and onion stuffing, and hot savory gravy for a cozy sandwich that tastes like the best part of a roast dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 whole chicken, 1.4 kg
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 medium baguettes, cut in half
- 100 g butter, melted
- 200 g sage and onion stuffing mix
- 240 ml chicken gravy, hot
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer or oven to 190°C.
- In a bowl, mix the olive oil, paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Rub the mixture all over the chicken.
- In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter with the sage and onion stuffing mix until evenly moistened. Wrap the stuffing mixture in foil.
- Cook the chicken for 50 minutes.
- Turn the chicken over, place the foil-wrapped stuffing beside it, and cook for 15 to 20 minutes more, until the chicken is cooked through and the stuffing is hot and crisp at the edges.
- Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes, then slice or shred the meat.
- Warm the gravy in a small saucepan.
- Slice the baguettes open and fill them with roast chicken and stuffing.
- Spoon over the hot gravy and serve immediately.
Notes
- Toast the inside of the baguettes lightly if you want extra crunch.
- Add the gravy gradually to keep the bread from getting too soft.
- Leftover chicken can be used to speed up the recipe.
- Cranberry sauce or Dijon mustard can be added for extra flavor.
