Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the whole milk, and mix until a smooth batter forms.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use room temperature butter and eggs for a smoother batter and better texture.
- Do not overmix once the flour is added, or the cake may turn out heavy.
- For extra flavor, add a little lemon zest or almond extract.
- Store tightly wrapped at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
