Description

A creamy, bold Cajun pasta loaded with tender shrimp, seasoned chicken, and vibrant peppers, all tossed in a rich, flavorful sauce that feels like a celebration in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lb chicken pieces, sliced
  • 2 cups sliced bell peppers
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the penne pasta until al dente, then reserve some pasta water and drain.
  2. Season the shrimp and chicken pieces evenly with Cajun seasoning.
  3. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Cook the chicken until golden and fully cooked, then remove and set aside. Cook the shrimp until just pink, then remove and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, sauté garlic, onions, and bell peppers until softened and fragrant.
  6. Pour in the heavy cream and stir, then add grated parmesan cheese and mix until smooth.
  7. Return the chicken and shrimp to the skillet, then add the cooked pasta and toss everything together.
  8. Adjust the sauce consistency with reserved pasta water if needed and taste to adjust seasoning.
  9. Serve hot with extra parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • Do not overcook the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
  • Use freshly grated parmesan for the best texture and flavor.
  • Add a splash of pasta water to loosen the sauce if it becomes too thick.
  • Adjust Cajun seasoning gradually to control spice level.
