Description

A hearty and comforting pasta dish made with tender pasta, savory ground beef, sweet onions, garlic, and tomato sauce, finished with grated parmesan for a rich and satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces pasta, such as spaghetti or penne
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil for the pasta.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and fragrant. Stir in the garlic and cook briefly.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart, until browned.
  4. Pour in the tomato sauce, then add the salt, black pepper, and dried oregano. Stir well.
  5. Let the sauce simmer gently for 10 minutes while the pasta cooks according to package instructions.
  6. Drain the pasta and add it directly to the sauce. Toss until the pasta is fully coated.
  7. Top with grated parmesan cheese and serve warm.

Notes

  • Reserve a little pasta water if you want to loosen the sauce and help it cling to the pasta.
  • Do not overcook the pasta, it should stay just tender for the best texture.
  • You can swap ground beef for ground turkey if preferred.
  • Fresh basil or parsley can be added before serving for extra freshness.
