Description
A hearty and comforting pasta dish made with tender pasta, savory ground beef, sweet onions, garlic, and tomato sauce, finished with grated parmesan for a rich and satisfying dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces pasta, such as spaghetti or penne
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil for the pasta.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and fragrant. Stir in the garlic and cook briefly.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart, until browned.
- Pour in the tomato sauce, then add the salt, black pepper, and dried oregano. Stir well.
- Let the sauce simmer gently for 10 minutes while the pasta cooks according to package instructions.
- Drain the pasta and add it directly to the sauce. Toss until the pasta is fully coated.
- Top with grated parmesan cheese and serve warm.
Notes
- Reserve a little pasta water if you want to loosen the sauce and help it cling to the pasta.
- Do not overcook the pasta, it should stay just tender for the best texture.
- You can swap ground beef for ground turkey if preferred.
- Fresh basil or parsley can be added before serving for extra freshness.
