Description

Juicy steak bites, tender pasta, and a sweet smoky honey BBQ sauce come together in one pot for a weeknight-friendly, crowd-pleasing dinner that’s bold, cozy, and downright irresistible.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound steak, sirloin or ribeye, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup smoky BBQ sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes, optional
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 12 ounces pasta such as penne or rigatoni
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Kosher salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the steak cubes generously with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat a large pot or Dutch oven over medium high heat. Add olive oil, then sear steak in batches until browned, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate.
  3. In the same pot, add onion and cook until translucent, about 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  4. Add BBQ sauce, honey, smoked paprika, and chili flakes. Stir to combine, then pour in beef broth and bring to a lively simmer.
  5. Add pasta, stir, cover partially, and cook, stirring occasionally, until al dente, 10 to 12 minutes. Add a splash of broth or water if needed.
  6. Return steak and any juices to the pot. Toss with pasta, then stir in Parmesan until glossy and saucy.
  7. Finish with parsley. Taste and adjust seasoning, then serve hot.

Notes

  • Cut steak into even pieces for quick, consistent searing.
  • Let the steak rest after searing so it stays juicy when tossed back in.
  • Use a high quality smoky BBQ sauce for deeper flavor.
  • Thin the sauce with a splash of broth when reheating leftovers.
