Description

Mongolian Noodles with Ground Beef is a quick and flavorful stir-fry dish featuring tender noodles, seasoned ground beef, and a sweet-savory Mongolian-style sauce. It’s an easy weeknight dinner packed with umami and ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz lo mein noodles or spaghetti
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, heat oil. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.
  3. Add garlic and ginger to the beef. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce (if using), and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  5. Add cornstarch slurry to the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Add cooked noodles and toss to coat in the sauce. Stir in green onions.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • Use rice noodles or gluten-free pasta for a gluten-free version.
  • Swap ground beef with ground turkey, chicken, or plant-based crumbles.
