- 8 oz lo mein noodles or spaghetti
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional)
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 3 green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, heat oil. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease if needed.
- Add garlic and ginger to the beef. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce (if using), and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Add cornstarch slurry to the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Add cooked noodles and toss to coat in the sauce. Stir in green onions.
- Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds if desired.
