Description
A quick, flavorful dish of Korean-inspired ground beef and crisp broccoli in a savory-sweet garlic soy sauce, served over fluffy white rice. Perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 3 cups broccoli florets
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 stalks green onions, sliced
- 3 cups cooked white rice
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, cornstarch, and a splash of water. Set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until fully browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Pour the sauce into the skillet with the beef and stir to coat. Let it simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened.
- In another pan, lightly sauté or steam the broccoli until just tender and vibrant green.
- Stir the cooked broccoli into the beef mixture and cook for another minute to combine.
- Turn off the heat, drizzle sesame oil, and sprinkle sliced green onions over the top.
- Serve hot over cooked white rice.
Notes
- Use fresh garlic and ginger for maximum flavor impact.
- Double the sauce if you like it extra saucy or plan to drizzle more over rice.
- You can prep the sauce and beef ahead to save time later.
- For extra texture, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds before serving.
