Description

Crispy, golden halloumi slices coated in a seasoned breadcrumb crust and drizzled with sweet and spicy hot honey. This vegetarian schnitzel is bursting with flavor and texture—perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or a crowd-pleasing appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 225 grams Halloumi Cheese: sliced into 1 cm thick slabs
  • 60 grams All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 large Eggs: beaten
  • 120 grams Panko Breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • Salt and Pepper: to taste
  • Olive Oil: for frying
  • 2 tablespoons Hot Honey
  • Fresh Parsley: for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat a generous amount of olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  2. In one bowl, place the flour. In a second, beat the eggs. In a third, mix panko breadcrumbs with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Line a plate with paper towels for draining the fried schnitzel later.
  4. Dredge each halloumi slice first in flour, then in egg, and finally in the seasoned breadcrumbs. Press gently to ensure the coating sticks.
  5. Fry the halloumi slices for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crisp. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
  6. Transfer to the paper towel-lined plate. While still warm, drizzle generously with hot honey.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use panko for a crunchier texture.
  • Chill breaded slices before frying to help the crust stick better.
  • Reheat leftovers in an oven or air fryer for best results.
  • Add chili flakes to increase heat in the hot honey.
