Description

A juicy, golden herb-roasted turkey packed with fresh rosemary, thyme, and citrus flavors. Perfect for holidays or special gatherings, this turkey is a true showstopper with crispy skin and tender, flavorful meat.


Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 pounds)
  • 4 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • 4 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 6 fresh sage leaves
  • 1 garlic bulb, halved
  • 2 oranges, halved
  • 2 lemons, halved
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C) and place a rack in the roasting pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix softened butter with chopped rosemary, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper.
  3. Rub the butter mixture under and over the turkey skin.
  4. Add garlic, orange, and lemon halves to the roasting pan around the turkey. Drizzle with olive oil.
  5. Stuff turkey cavity with remaining herbs and citrus. Tie legs and tuck wings under.
  6. Roast uncovered for about 15 minutes per pound, basting every 30 minutes.
  7. When a meat thermometer reads 165°F (74°C) in the thigh, remove turkey from oven.
  8. Let turkey rest for 20–30 minutes before carving. Garnish and serve.
