Description

These Healthy Twix Bars are a homemade gluten-free version of the classic candy, made with a buttery almond flour shortbread base, a gooey caramel layer, and a rich chocolate topping. A guilt-free indulgence that’s both wholesome and satisfying.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups almond flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 ½ tablespoons maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pitted dates (for caramel)
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for caramel)
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips (or chopped dark chocolate)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (for chocolate layer)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix almond flour, melted butter, maple syrup, and vanilla until crumbly. Press evenly into the bottom of the pan to form the shortbread base.
  3. Bake for 10–12 minutes until lightly golden. Allow to cool completely.
  4. For the caramel layer, blend dates, almond butter, coconut oil, sea salt, and vanilla in a food processor until smooth. Spread evenly over cooled shortbread.
  5. Melt chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon coconut oil until smooth. Pour over caramel layer, spreading evenly.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 1–2 hours, or until set. Slice into bars and enjoy.

Notes

  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for longer storage.
  • You can substitute peanut butter or cashew butter for almond butter.
  • Use dairy-free chocolate to make this recipe completely vegan.
