Description

Creamy ground beef stroganoff made with tender egg noodles, savory mushrooms, and a rich sour cream sauce. A comforting, family-friendly dinner that comes together quickly and delivers classic cozy flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until fully browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Remove beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add butter, onion, and mushrooms. Cook until softened and lightly golden, then stir in the garlic.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir until evenly coated. Cook for about one minute.
  5. Slowly pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly until smooth and thickened.
  6. Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet and let the sauce simmer gently until thick and glossy.
  7. Lower the heat and stir in sour cream, salt, and black pepper until creamy and well combined.
  8. Serve the stroganoff warm over cooked egg noodles.

Notes

  • Keep the heat low after adding sour cream to maintain a smooth sauce.
  • If the sauce thickens too much, add a splash of beef broth.
  • Leftovers taste even better the next day.
