Description
These Golden Corral Rolls are soft, fluffy, and buttery, making them the perfect copycat recipe for homemade dinner rolls. They’re slightly sweet, pillowy, and ideal for family dinners or special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 6 tablespoons granulated sugar (81 grams)
- 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons butter, melted, divided use
- 2 1/4 teaspoons instant or active dry yeast
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 1/4 to 4 1/2 cups bread flour (566-600 grams)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, warm the milk and water until slightly warm (not hot). Stir in 2 tablespoons of melted butter and sugar until dissolved.
- Sprinkle yeast over the warm liquid and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine yeast mixture, egg, salt, and 4 cups of bread flour. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes, adding remaining flour as needed until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 12-15 equal pieces. Shape into rolls and place on a greased baking sheet or in a greased baking dish.
- Cover and let the rolls rise for another 30-45 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush rolls with remaining melted butter.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Brush with additional butter after baking for extra softness and flavor.
Notes
- Ensure the milk is warm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
- Use bread flour for the softest, fluffiest rolls.
- These rolls freeze well; wrap tightly and reheat before serving.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of garlic powder or herbs to the butter brush before baking.
