Description

These Easy Sausage Rolls are a classic savory treat, featuring seasoned sausage meat wrapped in flaky puff pastry. Perfect for snacks, parties, or a quick lunch.

For the sausage rolls:

  • 350 g (12 oz) sausagemeat
  • 1 egg, for brushing
  • 1 tsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 320 g (11 oz) rolled sheet of puff pastry


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the sausagemeat with dried sage, dried thyme, salt, and pepper.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
  4. Place the seasoned sausagemeat along the center of the pastry.
  5. Fold the pastry over the meat and press the edges to seal. Cut into desired roll sizes.
  6. Place the sausage rolls on the prepared baking sheet, seam-side down.
  7. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and cooked through.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use pork, beef, or mixed sausagemeat according to preference.
  • Additional herbs like rosemary or parsley can be added for extra flavor.
  • Sausage rolls can be frozen before baking; bake directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes.
