- 1 tablespoon baking powder

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 2/3 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold cubed butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and egg.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until a dough forms.
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and gently shape into a circle about 1 inch thick.
- Cut into 8 wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Sprinkle the tops with cinnamon sugar.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Let cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
- Use very cold butter to ensure flaky layers.
- Don’t overmix the dough or the scones may become tough.
- For extra richness, brush the tops with cream before sprinkling with cinnamon sugar.
