Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 ½ cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2–4 tablespoons heavy cream
- ¾ cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Let the butter come to room temperature until soft and easy to whip.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
- Gradually add powdered sugar, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream. Beat until smooth and fluffy.
- Add more cream, one teaspoon at a time, if needed to reach desired consistency.
- Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Use immediately or chill slightly before piping. Bring to room temp before spreading if stored.
Notes
- Sift powdered sugar to avoid a grainy texture.
- Use high-quality butter for best flavor.
- Chill the frosting slightly if piping onto baked goods.
- Add a pinch of salt if the frosting is too sweet.
