- 1 cup cooked and peeled chestnuts (or chestnut puree)

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Whipped cream or chocolate ganache for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In another bowl, beat together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate small bowl, combine the chestnut puree and milk, then add this mixture to the butter-sugar mixture, alternating with the dry ingredients, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Stir in the boiling water and chocolate chips, creating a smooth, thin batter.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from the pans and cool completely on a wire rack.
- Once cooled, frost with whipped cream or chocolate ganache, and garnish with additional chestnuts or cocoa powder if desired.

- If you use chestnut puree, ensure it’s unsweetened for better control over sweetness.
- This cake pairs beautifully with a cup of coffee or a rich dessert wine.
