- 4 Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts, pounded thin
- 8 slices Deli Ham
- 8 slices Swiss Cheese
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
- 2 large Eggs, beaten
- 1 ½ cups Panko Breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons Butter (for sauce)
- 2 tablespoons All-Purpose Flour (for sauce)
- 1 ½ cups Whole Milk
- 1 cup Grated Swiss Cheese
- 1 tablespoon Dijon Mustard
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Lay out the chicken breasts and layer each with 2 slices of ham and 2 slices of Swiss cheese.
- Roll each chicken breast tightly and secure with toothpicks.
- Prepare three bowls for flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
- Dip each chicken roll in flour, then egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Place seam side down in the baking dish and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden and cooked through.
- Meanwhile, melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, then gradually add milk, stirring constantly until thickened.
- Stir in grated Swiss cheese and Dijon mustard. Season with salt and pepper.
- Slice chicken and drizzle with warm cheese sauce before serving.
Notes
- Chill the rolled chicken before breading to help hold shape.
- Add a pinch of nutmeg to the cheese sauce for deeper flavor.
