Description

Crispy, golden tortillas stuffed with juicy seasoned ground beef and melty cheddar cheese, these cheesy ground beef quesadillas are the perfect blend of crunchy, gooey, and savory satisfaction.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 medium flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Set a large skillet over medium heat so it’s hot and ready when you start.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In the skillet, heat olive oil. Add diced onion and sauté for 2–3 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds more. Add ground beef, breaking it up as it browns. Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook until beef is no longer pink. Drain excess grease.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Wipe out the skillet and return it to the stove over medium-low heat.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Lay a tortilla flat, sprinkle cheese on half, then spoon some beef mixture over it. Add more cheese on top of the beef. Fold tortilla in half to create a half-moon shape.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Place folded quesadilla in the skillet. Cook 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Flip carefully with a spatula.
  6. Finishing Touches: Let quesadillas rest for 1 minute on a cutting board before slicing into wedges.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Serve hot with salsa, sour cream, or guacamole on the side.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated cheese for better melting and flavor.
  • Press down slightly with a spatula while cooking to help seal the edges.
  • Cook on medium heat to avoid burning the tortilla before the cheese melts.
  • Rest quesadillas before slicing to prevent the cheese from spilling out.
