- 4 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 1 ½ cups grated gruyere cheese
- 2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C.
- In a large skillet, heat butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions, salt, and pepper, then cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until caramelized and golden.
- Line a baking sheet or tart pan with parchment paper and place the puff pastry on top.
- Spread the caramelized onions evenly over the pastry. Sprinkle grated gruyere cheese and thyme over the top.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbling.
- Remove from oven and let it cool slightly before slicing.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
