Description

These Banana Bread Cinnamon Rolls are a dreamy mashup of soft, gooey cinnamon rolls and sweet, moist banana bread. Swirled with cinnamon-sugar and topped with a silky cream cheese glaze, they’re perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a cozy dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup mashed bananas
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup whole milk, warm
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and granulated sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes. Add mashed bananas, softened butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix well. Gradually stir in flour until dough forms.
  3. Grease a bowl and place the dough inside. Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the dough into a 10×16 inch rectangle. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll tightly from the long side and slice into 12 even rolls using dental floss or a sharp knife.
  5. Place rolls in the prepared baking dish. Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  6. Bake for 25–28 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  7. While baking, whisk together cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a splash of milk until smooth to create the glaze.
  8. Spread glaze over warm rolls and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and texture.
  • Warm your milk to about 100°F to activate the yeast properly.
  • Slice dough with unflavored dental floss for clean edges.
  • Let the rolls cool slightly before glazing for perfect melt-in texture.
