Description

Ingredients

  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced and caramelized
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika


Instructions

  1. Place a heavy-bottomed skillet over medium heat and let it warm up.
  2. Add sliced onions and cook for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and caramelized.
  3. Lower heat to medium-low and add apples, garlic, and a splash of water to keep it moist.
  4. Sprinkle in brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until the mixture is coated and glossy.
  5. Let the mixture simmer gently for 20–25 minutes, stirring often. Add apple cider vinegar during the last 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Use a fork or immersion blender to mash to your preferred texture.
  7. Spoon into a jar, seal tightly, and refrigerate. Serve chilled or warmed as desired.
