Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup chopped yellow onion
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 4 wieners
- 4 hot dog buns
- 1/3 cup shredded nacho cheese blend
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with chopped onion and garlic until the beef is browned and the onions are soft.
- Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, brown sugar, and onion powder. Stir to combine and simmer for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
- Split the hot dog buns and place the wieners inside.
- Top each wiener with the sloppy joe beef mixture and sprinkle shredded nacho cheese on top.
- Place the assembled hot dogs in the air fryer basket and cook for 3-4 minutes, until the cheese is melted and buns are slightly toasted.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of smoked paprika or chili powder to the beef mixture.
- Ensure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket for even cooking.
- These can be made ahead and reheated, but cheese is best added just before air frying.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
