Scale
Primary Ingredients
- 2 cups Crispy cereal (Rice Krispies, puffed wheat, granola, or crushed cornflakes)
- 1/2 cup Nut butter (smooth peanut butter, almond butter, sunflower seed butter, or tahini)
- 1/4 cup Sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or agave)
Optional Add-ins and Flavorings
- Mini chocolate chips (1/4 cup, optional)
- Dried fruit (1/4 cup, optional)
- Seeds (1-2 tablespoons, optional)
- Pinch of cinnamon (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare your ingredients: Gather your chosen cereal in a bowl and measure out the nut butter and sweetener to have all ingredients ready before starting.
- Warm the nut butter and sweetener: In a microwave-safe bowl, gently heat the nut butter and sweetener together for about 20-30 seconds until smooth and easily blendable.
- Combine with cereal: Pour the warmed mixture over your cereal and gently fold with a spatula until every piece of cereal is evenly coated with the nut butter and sweetener blend. If using add-ins or flavorings, fold them in at this stage.
- Press into a pan: Transfer the mixture into a greased or parchment-lined pan. Firmly press it down with a spatula or your hands to compact the mixture and create an even surface.
- Chill and cut: Place the pan in the refrigerator for at least one hour to allow the bars to set and become crisp. Once firm, cut into bars or squares and enjoy!
Notes
- Use fresh, smooth nut butter for better mixing and smoother texture.
- Press the mixture firmly into the pan to ensure bars hold together and have a good crunch.
- Adjust the amount of sweetener to your taste preference for sweetness.
- Chill thoroughly; don’t rush this step for the best texture.
- Cut with a sharp knife to avoid crumbling and to get neat edges.
